Privacy Policy

This page explains what MakMarket collects, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address and password (stored hashed by our auth provider).
• If you sign in with Google, the name, email and profile photo Google shares with us.
• Your Makerere email, if you verify it to become a seller.
• Anything you add to your profile or listings, including photos, phone and WhatsApp numbers.
• Basic usage data such as listing views and the listings you save.

What is public

Your name, profile photo, bio, verification status and listings are visible to anyone. Phone and WhatsApp numbers you add are shown on your listings so buyers can contact you. Your email addresses are never shown to other users.

How we use it

• To run your account and show your listings.
• To confirm sellers are Makerere students.
• To keep the marketplace safe and deal with abuse.

We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who processes it

Data is stored with Supabase (database, login and photo storage). The site is hosted on Vercel, and verification emails are sent through Resend.

Your choices

You can edit your profile and delete your listings at any time. To delete your account or get a copy of your data, contact us and we'll handle it.
